Martins & More with Spoon Phillips

Hi friends- we regret to inform you that recently, both of our day jobs have conspired to take away much of our free time. So much so, that we must take a long hiatus from podcasting. We’ll keep you posted when we know more. For now, THANK YOU for all the support & please enjoy our past episodes. We truly enjoyed producing them. This podcast features the conversation and opinions of musician T Spoon Phillips. A writer by trade, Spoon’s longtime association with professional musicians, luthiers, and music historians affords him a richly unique perspective on all things acoustic guitar. This includes decades of close friendship with executives and employees at C. F. Martin & Company, past and present, and the host of this podcast, Maury Rutch of Maury’s Music. Pacific Northwest acoustic guitarist Eric Skye occupies a unique niche between folk, jazz and blues, between fingerstyle and flatpicking, and between composition and improvisation. A lifetime of eclectic interests and adventuresome exploration culminates into a fully realized and identifiable personal style and tone. Eric's wide-ranging body of work is threaded together with an uncluttered minimalist’s aesthetic, a passion for in-the-moment music making, and a love of pure acoustic tone.

Martin Authentic guitars in 2024. Welcome to Martins & More with Spoon Phillips! Our friend & long-time listener named Rick suggested that we revisit the subject of Martin Authentic guitars, since much has changed since we last spoke on the topic, several seasons ago. We thought that would be a fine idea, and we recorded this episode back in December, 2024. 2025 NAMM gave us a lot of great time-sensitive content to work up back in January/February - but now it's time to talk Authentic Martin Guitars. Thanks for listening!
