Dick Boak

Monday Apr 10, 2023

Monday Apr 10, 2023

Dick Boak reached legendary status at Martin Guitar long before Maury & Spoon met him at the very first Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum "Nazfest" back in 2002 - but his legend only grew from there. He retired from Martin in 2017 after a long, storied career including artist relations, marketing, drafting, archiving & more. These days he's building his own amazing instruments & if they're good enough for Steve Miller & John Mayer, they're worth talking about on our little show! We're proud to call Dick Boak our friend and we hope you enjoy this casual conversation with one of the most influential people to ever be involved with Martin Guitar. Sit back & relax as Maury & Spoon collect story after story from Dick Boak.

Remembering David Lindley

Monday Mar 27, 2023

Monday Mar 27, 2023

Remembering David Lindley. Welcome to the Martins & More Podcast with Spoon Phillips. On today's episode, we pay homage to one of our biggest musical influences - David Lindley. Mr Dave, as he was sometimes called, was one of the most unique musicians. He may be most famous for his work with Jackson Browne - but he appeared on over 350 albums, including some of his own - with El Rayo-X, Wally Ingram, Henry Kaiser & SO many more. Over the years, both Maury & Spoon were lucky enough to meet David on a few occasions - and David's is one of 4 autographs inside Maury's 1998 Martin OM-28V. Rest in peace, David - and thank you for all the music.

Humidity

Monday Feb 20, 2023

Welcome to the Martins and More PODCAST! Today, we'll be discussing humidity and acoustic guitars. If your guitar is constructed of tonewoods, this episode is for you. Unless you have a carbon fiber instrument, your acoustic guitar needs to be in a healthy environment when it comes to temperature and relative humidity. Too dry, and the wood can crack. Too damp, and the wood can swell. What does it all mean?  We'll explain. Sit back & relax as Maury & Spoon get their humidity chat on. This podcast features the conversation and opinions of musician T Spoon Phillips.
